Coney Island defines the American carnivalesque. The Parachute Jump Tower, an avatar standing unused, ironically refers to Coney Island’s fading history of amusement and flamboyant entertainment. This proposed intervention reasserts the carnivalesque.
The Parachute Pavilion, spliced into the existing boardwalk at the base of the Parachute Jump, will serve as a gathering space for the enjoyment of entertainment. It will include outdoor performance stages and lounge areas. The interior will include a bar, exhibit gallery and a multi functional space for parties.
